Heathrow to London Airport Transfer

Landing at Heathrow and heading into London shouldn’t mean queuing for a taxi, wrestling luggage onto the Tube, or hoping a minicab driver knows where they’re going. National Executive Transfers offers a private Heathrow to London transfer built around your flight, not a timetable. Your chauffeur tracks your arrival, meets you inside the terminal, and drives you straight to your hotel, home or office in a Mercedes executive car.

Whether you’re flying in for a meeting, coming home from holiday, or bringing the family back from a long-haul flight, this page covers what you need to know about the Heathrow to Central London transfer: journey times, pickup process, coverage, vehicles, and how to book.

Heathrow to London Transfer Overview

Heathrow Airport sits around 15 miles west of Central London, the busiest gateway into the capital for business and leisure travellers alike. That short distance can still turn into a long journey if you’re relying on public transport with cases in tow, or a shared shuttle that stops for other passengers first.

Our Heathrow chauffeur service is a direct, private transfer from the terminal to wherever you’re going in London. One car, one driver, no shared detours. You get a fixed price agreed at the point of booking, a driver tracking your flight before you’ve even landed, and a vehicle that’s clean, comfortable and ready when you walk through arrivals.

The service covers all four active Heathrow terminals and operates around the clock, so it works just as well for a 6am arrival as a delayed evening landing.

Heathrow to Central London: Journey Time and Distance

The drive from Heathrow to Central London usually takes between 45 minutes and just over an hour, covering roughly 15 to 20 miles depending on your exact destination. Outside peak periods, a journey into areas like Mayfair or Kensington can be closer to 45 minutes. During busier periods, particularly weekday mornings and early evenings, it’s sensible to allow up to 75 to 90 minutes.

What Affects Your Travel Time

  • Time of day – Rush hour traffic on the M4, A4 and around the Hammersmith and Chiswick flyovers is the biggest factor. Early morning and late evening transfers tend to be quicker.
  • Your terminal – Pickup logistics vary by terminal, which is covered below.
  • Exact destination – The City and East London generally take a little longer than West London addresses like Chiswick, Hammersmith or Kensington.
  • Roadworks and events – Central London closures, marathons and major events can add time on the day, which your driver will route around where possible.

Because your fare is agreed in advance, none of this affects what you pay. If traffic runs long, that’s absorbed by the service, not added to your bill.

Meet and Greet at Heathrow Airport

Every Heathrow to London booking includes a meet and greet. Your chauffeur waits inside the terminal, in the arrivals hall, holding a name board so you can find them straight away. There’s no need to search a car park or work out where a shuttle bus is meant to stop.

Terminal 4 works a little differently since June 2026. Heathrow closed the old multi-storey car park at Terminal 4 permanently for a redevelopment project, so kerbside pickup right outside the terminal is no longer available. Passengers collected from Terminal 4 now meet their driver at the Park & Ride Zone A, reached by a free shuttle bus from the terminal. If you’re flying into T4, we’ll confirm this pickup point when you book so there’s no confusion on the day.

Your driver helps with your luggage, walks you to the car, and gets you moving with minimum fuss. If you’re travelling with young children, elderly relatives, or simply a lot of bags after a long flight, this is where a private transfer earns its keep over a taxi rank queue.

Heathrow to London: Chauffeur vs Public Transport

The Heathrow Express and Elizabeth Line are fast and useful if you’re travelling light and heading straight to Paddington or a station on the line. But most journeys don’t end at a station. Factor in a connecting Tube, taxi, or walk with luggage, and the door-to-door time often ends up similar to a direct transfer, minus the comfort. A private chauffeur takes you from the terminal to your actual destination in one journey, which tends to matter more with cases, children, or a tight schedule.

Transfers for Business Travellers, Families and Groups

Business travellers often need a transfer that’s punctual, quiet, and lets them work or take a call on the way into the city. Our chauffeurs are used to corporate schedules, back-to-back meetings, and getting you to the right entrance with no fuss. See our business chauffeur services for corporate accounts and regular travel.

Families travelling with children can request child seats in advance, and our Mercedes V-Class gives enough room for luggage, buggies and everyone travelling together without cramming in. b  Groups of up to seven passengers can travel together in one vehicle rather than splitting across two taxis, which keeps things simpler and usually more cost-effective too.
