What to expect at Euro Bus Expo
Who goes and what’s on show
Organisers describe it as the UK’s biggest bus and coach trade show, with coaches, buses, mini and midi vehicles, equipment, components and services. The 2024 edition welcomed more than 7,000 attendees from 40 countries, according to the Confederation of Passenger Transport. This year the organisers list more than 80 vehicles and 49 first-time exhibitors.
Talks and technology
Free Masterclass Theatre sessions run 25 times across the three days, covering topics such as bus reform, coach operations, fleet transition and compliance. Eight operator roundtables take place too.
The Innovation Challenge has its own timetable. Visitors can vote at stand 476 until 3pm on Wednesday. The ten finalists then give 90-second pitches from 10.15am on Thursday, according to the organisers. Check the schedule before you travel, because planning around a session is easier when you know your arrival time.
How to register
Registration is free for industry professionals, and you need to register in advance. Keep your confirmation email on your phone, because you’ll usually need it at the entrance.
What to bring
Halls 17 to 19 cover a large area, so wear comfortable shoes. Bring business cards, a charged phone and a bag that you can carry for several hours. A light jacket helps, because part of the walk from the car parks to the halls is outdoors.
Getting to Euro Bus Expo from Birmingham Airport
The Air-Rail Link
Take the free Air-Rail Link from the upper level of Terminal 1 to Birmingham International station. The NEC says it runs every two minutes and takes about 90 seconds. From the station, follow the covered walkway into the NEC, then the signs for Halls 17 to 19.
Taxi or pre-booked transfer
A taxi suits you if you have luggage, samples or mobility needs. The ride is short, and our Birmingham Airport to the NEC guide covers the full route and the alternatives, so we won’t repeat it here.
Late arrivals
The Air-Rail Link runs from about 3.30am to 12.30am, according to the bp pulse LIVE travel page. Check the hours if you land late, because they can change. For a late flight, a driver waiting in arrivals avoids any gap in the service.
Parking and driving to the NEC
Plan your car park
The NEC uses number plate recognition and a cashless system, according to the NEC’s own information. Pre-booking online saves £5 on the standard rate if you book before midnight the day before, and booking usually opens several weeks before an event. Follow the Euro Bus Expo signs to the right car park when you arrive.
Should you drive at all?
Driving gives you flexibility, but it adds a car park, a cashless payment and a queue to leave on busy afternoons. If you’re coming from Birmingham city centre or flying in, the train or a pre-booked transfer is simpler. Coming from further away with colleagues or samples? Parking may suit you better. Whichever you choose, decide before the morning of the show.
The free shuttle bus
According to the organisers, a free shuttle bus runs from the car parks to the show entrance. You can also walk along the signposted footpaths. Allow extra time on the first morning, because most visitors arrive close to the 9.30am opening.
Roadworks and the M42
The NEC lists current roadworks on its travel updates page, and HS2 works continue around the site. HS2 has scheduled a weekend closure of the M42 for 23 to 26 October. National Highways has identified 6 to 9 November as backup dates if it moves, and both periods fall outside the show. Check the latest before you set off, because plans can change.
Getting there by train or coach
Train
Birmingham International station is on the NEC campus, and the walk to the halls takes about five minutes. From Birmingham New Street, the journey takes roughly 10 to 15 minutes. London Northwestern Railway serves the station from London, Milton Keynes and Northampton. Check National Rail for engineering works and your last train home.
Coach
National Express and Megabus coaches serve Birmingham Airport, according to the organisers, and you then take the Air-Rail Link. In 2024, the show offered free coach transfers with Zeelo. We found no 2026 announcement, so check your registration email for any transfer details.
Taxis and private hire at the NEC
Where you’re dropped off
According to NEC information, TOA Taxis is the venue’s taxi partner, with ranks outside the main entrances. Veezu is the official private hire partner, with pick-up points near the main doors. Other private hire cars, including pre-booked chauffeurs, drop off and pick up at the Piazza or the Atrium entrance.
Agree your meeting point
Ask your driver to confirm the entrance that suits Halls 17 to 19, using the NEC’s event map. A pre-agreed pickup point saves a long search at the end of the day. Share your show finishing time when you book.
If you’d like a fixed price for your journey, our Birmingham Airport transfers page explains how to book.
For exhibitors and stand teams
Exhibitors should follow the organisers’ instructions for build-up, vehicle access and loading, because those arrangements are set by the show. We can help with people rather than freight: getting staff from Birmingham Airport or your hotel to the halls on time. Tell us your early start times, because stand teams may arrive before the doors open. Agree who is travelling, how many bags they carry, and the pickup time at the end of each day.
Visitors travelling from abroad
The show draws visitors from many countries, so Birmingham Airport is a common starting point. Check the entry rules for the UK before you book, and keep your registration confirmation with your travel documents. Our transfers include flight monitoring and meet-and-greet, so your driver follows your flight and meets you in arrivals. If your flight is delayed, the pickup moves with it.
What a fixed price covers
We agree the price when you book, so queues and traffic don’t change it. Tell us your flight number, the number of passengers and bags, and your show days, so we can quote accurately. Planning several days at the NEC? Ask about a return pickup each afternoon. If you’re visiting several sites, ask about hourly or full-day hire.
Accessibility and step-free access
Another NEC show’s guide says the covered Bridgelink gives step-free access from Birmingham International station to the NEC. It also advises Blue Badge holders to bring their badge even when travelling by taxi, so staff can direct them to the nearest accessible parking. Check the Euro Bus Expo and NEC pages for this event, and tell your driver about any mobility needs when you book.
Planning a one-day trade visit
Make the most of the hours
The show closes at 5pm on Tuesday and Wednesday, and at 3.30pm on Thursday. An older organisers’ page says last admission is 30 minutes before closing, so allow for that. Travelling in for a single day? Aim to be through the doors for the 9.30am opening, because that gives you more time with exhibitors.
Use the planner
Euro Bus Expo Connect is for registered coach and bus operators, local authorities and community transport organisations. It lets them find exhibitors, request meetings before the show and build a schedule around their chosen sessions. Book your key meetings in advance, so you’re not searching for a stand on the day.
A sample timeline
This timeline is an illustration for a visitor flying in on Tuesday morning. It isn’t a timetable.
- 7.30am: Land at Birmingham Airport.
- 8.15am: Clear arrivals and take the Air-Rail Link or your transfer.
- 8.45am: Arrive at the NEC and collect your badge.
- 9.30am: The show opens.
- 4.30pm: Finish your last meeting.
- 5.30pm: Return to the airport for your flight home.
Adjust it for your flight and meetings, and leave a buffer before check-in closes.
Leaving at the end of the day
Tuesday and Wednesday close at 5pm, and many visitors head for trains, taxis and car parks together. Thursday closes at 3.30pm, so that exit should be quieter. If you’ve booked a driver, agree a pickup window of 20 to 30 minutes after closing, and meet at the agreed entrance. Staying a little longer in the halls can make the journey smoother than joining the first rush.
Overlapping NEC events
Euro Bus Expo isn’t the only show at the NEC that week. Our NEC events calendar lists Advanced Engineering on 4 and 5 November. The Creative Craft Show and its sister shows start on 5 November. Thursday could therefore be busy for parking, taxis and trains. Our guide on getting to the Creative Craft Show explains how to avoid the parking queue on those days.
Teams, groups and company travel
Group travel
Sending a team to the show? The Mercedes-Benz V-Class seats up to seven passengers, so a small team can travel together. For larger groups, compare a minibus with several cars before you book.
Business accounts
Our corporate service offers fixed or pre-agreed rates, flight monitoring and meet-and-greet. It also includes a dedicated account manager, consolidated monthly VAT invoicing with journey-level detail, multiple authorised bookers and hourly or full-day hire. Our corporate chauffeur service page explains how an account works.
Staying near the NEC
A hotel near the NEC shortens the morning journey on all three days. Book early, because trade-show weeks can fill rooms.
