Heathrow Airport Lounges

Heathrow Airport Lounges: The Complete Guide to Every Terminal

Heathrow has more airport lounges than any other UK airport, over 40 across its five terminals, and most people never realise how many of them they can actually walk into. You do not need a business class ticket or airline status to use one. Anyone can buy a pass and get in, and for less than the price of a few airport meals, you get a quiet seat, decent food, and a proper break before your flight.

This guide covers every lounge type worth knowing about, terminal by terminal, arrivals as well as departures, real prices, and exactly how to get in. No recycled marketing copy, just the detail you actually need before you book.

Do You Need a Lounge at Heathrow?

Not every journey calls for one, but several situations make a real difference.

Early departures top the list. If your flight leaves before 8am, you have already had a rushed start, so a lounge gives you somewhere calm to sit with a proper coffee rather than queuing at a terminal kiosk with everyone else who set an alarm at 4am.

Long layovers benefit even more. With three or four hours between flights, a lounge turns dead time into something almost enjoyable. You get a shower if you need one and food that does not cost airport-terminal prices per item.

Business travellers gain the most from the quiet Wi-Fi and proper desk space, rather than balancing a laptop on your knee at a departure gate bench. Families with tired children get room to spread out, which beats managing a packed departure hall by a wide margin.

If you are flying a short hop with an hour to spare, skip it. For most other situations, a lounge earns its place as one of the better value additions to a Heathrow trip.

How Much Does a Heathrow Lounge Cost?

Prices vary by lounge and terminal, but here is the honest range for 2026.

Independent departure lounges start from around £29.99 to £35 per adult for a standard three-hour stay. My Lounge at Terminal 3 sits among the cheapest at roughly £30. No1 Lounge at Terminal 2 starts from about £32. Several lounges also sell a six-hour option for longer waits, and a longer stay at Plaza Premium can run to £60 to £65.

Children under 2 usually enter free with an adult, and older children pay a reduced rate at most lounges.

Book online rather than turning up on the day. Prices drop noticeably in advance, and most operators offer free cancellation up to 24 hours before your slot, so you lose nothing by booking early and changing plans later if needed. No1 Lounge at Terminal 3 now charges a small non-refundable booking fee just to reserve a spot, since demand there consistently outstrips space.

For most travellers, £30 to £35 buys a calm few hours with hot food, drinks, and a working power socket, often less than piecing together the same things separately around the terminal.

How Lounge Access Actually Works

Four main routes get you through a lounge door at Heathrow.

Pay Directly

Independent lounges including No1, Plaza Premium, and My Lounge sell entry tickets to anyone, regardless of airline or ticket class. Book online in advance for the best price and a guaranteed slot.

Priority Pass and Similar Schemes

Priority Pass membership costs around £69 a year at the base tier. It covers No1 Lounges and most Plaza Premium lounges across Heathrow’s terminals, plus lounges worldwide. DragonPass and LoungeKey work in a similar way. Each offers a slightly different lounge network, so check which scheme covers the lounges you actually want before you join.

Premium Credit Cards

Cards such as American Express Platinum bundle Priority Pass access into the membership. If you already hold one for other reasons, lounge entry effectively comes at no extra cost, and it often covers guests travelling with you too.

Included with Your Ticket

Flying business or first class on most airlines includes lounge access as standard, drawing on the airline’s own lounge or a shared alliance lounge depending on the route and carrier.

What Actually Happens Inside

Every paid lounge follows a broadly similar pattern, though quality and food genuinely vary between operators.

You check in at a reception desk with your boarding pass and lounge pass, then find a seat wherever suits you, quiet corners, work-friendly desks, or bar-style seating near the food. Most lounges offer a buffet of hot and cold food alongside free-pour drinks including beer, wine, and spirits. Reviews consistently rate the seating and service well, though food quality varies more, some travellers find certain lounges heavy on vegetarian dishes with limited meat options, so do not expect a restaurant-level menu everywhere.

Showers exist in most major lounges, but availability runs first come, first served rather than reserved, and some locations have just one shower room covering the whole lounge. If a shower matters to your plans, arrive early rather than assuming one will be free later.

Most standard bookings run for three hours, with six-hour options available at several lounges for longer waits. Staff generally do not enforce a strict clock-watching cutoff, but treat your booked window as the plan rather than pushing your luck on a busy day.

Arrivals Lounges: Often Overlooked

Departure lounges get most of the attention, but Heathrow also runs dedicated arrivals lounges, genuinely useful after an overnight or long-haul flight when you land tired and want to freshen up before heading into the city or onward to a connection.

Plaza Premium Arrivals Lounge, Terminal 3 reopened in September 2025 just outside the public arrivals area, near the Aerotel hotel and taxi rank. It offers comfortable seating, light refreshments including breakfast and lunch options, workspaces, Wi-Fi, and seven shower rooms. Paid access starts from £36 for two hours, or £22 for a shower-only visit if that is all you need. It opens early, from around 6am, aimed squarely at passengers coming off overnight flights.

Terminal 2 also runs a dedicated arrivals lounge with shower facilities, useful for the same purpose if your flight lands there.

If you are transferring onward rather than heading into London, an arrivals lounge lets you shower, eat, and reset before your next flight instead of carrying that tired, overnight-flight feeling through a full connection.

Sleeping and Resting Between Flights

For a genuinely long layover, several terminals offer proper rest options beyond a standard lounge chair.

Aerotel Heathrow at Terminal 3 sits inside the terminal itself, a short walk from arrivals, with sleep cabins and en suite showers bookable in four-hour minimum blocks.

YOTEL Heathrow at Terminal 4 offers similar premium sleep cabins, also in four-hour blocks with showers included.

Both work well if you have a genuinely long gap between flights and want real rest rather than a lounge chair. For anywhere between one and four hours, a standard lounge remains the better value option.

Terminal 2 Lounges

Terminal 2 offers a manageable, well organised lounge selection.

No1 Lounge T2 sits on the second floor of the F Lounge area past security, on the way to gates 13 to 22. It includes complimentary food, beer, wine, spirits, and soft drinks, plus fast free Wi-Fi. Entry starts from around £32 per adult for a standard three-hour stay, or roughly £45 if you book at the door rather than in advance.

Plaza Premium T2 sits on Level 4, near the terminal transfers area, and opens early at 5am through to 9:30pm daily, useful for a genuinely early flight. It offers hot food, drinks, and showers at a similar price point to No1.

Passengers flying Lufthansa from the T2A satellite get access to the Lufthansa Business Lounge. They can also use the larger Lufthansa Senator Lounge, the biggest Lufthansa lounge outside Germany. The T2B satellite sits across an underground walkway, around 800 metres long. It houses the Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge, the United Club, and the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge. Each one stays restricted to the relevant airline’s premium passengers or alliance status holders.

For economy passengers without status, No1 and Plaza Premium remain the two realistic options at T2, and both deliver solidly.

Terminal 3 Lounges

Terminal 3 carries the widest spread of lounge styles at Heathrow, from straightforward and practical through to genuinely exceptional.

My Lounge T3, formerly Club Aspire, underwent a Scandinavian-style redesign and now ranks among the cheapest entry points at Heathrow, from around £29.99 per adult.

No1 Lounge T3 recently split into a main lounge and a separate Clubroom facility, reopening in this format in 2025. Priority Pass covers it, but demand has grown to the point where a small pre-booking fee now applies to guarantee a spot.

Terminal 3 genuinely leads the airport for premium and alliance-status travellers. The American Express Centurion Lounge, the UK’s only Centurion location at around 7,000 square feet, sits here, alongside the Cathay Pacific Lounge with its wood panelling and noodle bar, the Qantas Lounge, and the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse, known for its rooftop terrace and runway views. Access to the Clubhouse tightened during 2025, and Delta SkyMiles status alone no longer guarantees entry if you are travelling in economy, so check current eligibility before counting on it.

Both My Lounge and No1 fill up during peak mornings. Arrive with a reasonable buffer rather than expecting a guaranteed instant walk-in on a busy day.

Terminal 4 Lounges

Terminal 4 has historically carried the thinnest lounge selection at Heathrow, largely because it handles fewer flights overall. That picture improves significantly in 2026.

The Qatar Airways Premium Lounge at T4 ranks among the best lounges at any London airport, though access stays restricted to Qatar Airways business and first class passengers, plus Oneworld Emerald status holders.

Plaza Premium Lounge T4, on Level 2 opposite gates 10a and 10b, moved into a larger 766 square metre space in 2024, seating 147 guests with a large buffet, a dedicated quiet zone for business travellers, and showers available for an extra charge. Large windows give decent apron and runway views. Access covers Priority Pass, DragonPass, and Amex Platinum, or paid entry from around £48 for two hours.

The EL AL Lounge at T4 opens to EL AL premium passengers plus Amex Platinum, Priority Pass, and DragonPass members, with paid access also available from around £44 for two hours.

The standout change at T4 is the new Air France lounge, opening in spring 2026 as part of the SkyTeam alliance offering. At 750 square metres with seating for 150 guests, a dedicated bar serving French wines and champagne, a full dining area, and its own spa facility, it represents a major upgrade for the terminal. Access covers Air France La Première, eligible Business Class and Flying Blue Elite Plus passengers, and eligible SkyTeam partner travellers including KLM.

For economy passengers flying from T4 without status, Plaza Premium remains the most reliable paid option, and the terminal’s typically quieter pace works genuinely in your favour.

Terminal 5 Lounges

Terminal 5 houses Heathrow’s most premium lounge experiences, particularly for British Airways passengers.

For paid, walk-in access, Plaza Premium Lounge T5 and Club Aspire Lounge T5 both accept any passenger regardless of airline. Plaza Premium here has floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the main runway, a genuine favourite for anyone who enjoys watching aircraft while they wait, and it runs hot food, drinks, and shower facilities.

British Airways Galleries Club serves buffet dining and full bar service to Club World and Club Europe passengers.

British Airways First Lounge sits beyond the dedicated First Wing and its own security walkway, open to passengers flying BA First, holding BA Club Gold, or Oneworld Emerald status without flying First itself.

At the very top sits The Concorde Room, British Airways’ flagship lounge, reserved exclusively for passengers flying a scheduled BA First service. It offers à la carte dining, private dining booths, nap pods, and its own dedicated First Wing security access, making it the most exclusive lounge at Heathrow and also the hardest to reach, since a genuine First class ticket is required rather than status alone.

Economy and premium economy passengers flying from T5 without BA status should look to Plaza Premium and Club Aspire, both genuinely good options.

Which Lounge Should You Choose

Price-conscious travellers should look at My Lounge at T3 and No1 Lounge at T2. Both stay under £35 and offer solid, reliable value.

Want the best view while you wait? Plaza Premium T5 delivers floor-to-ceiling windows directly over the runway, the standout pick for anyone who enjoys watching aircraft come and go.

Flying from T4 and craving a calm experience? Plaza Premium T4 benefits from the terminal’s lower overall passenger volume.

Already hold Priority Pass or an Amex Platinum card? Check exactly which lounges your specific terminal covers before you travel. Access varies by lounge, and not every Priority Pass lounge appears at every terminal.

Club World or above on British Airways from T5? Use Galleries Club instead of paying separately for an independent lounge, since your ticket already includes it.

Just landed and want to freshen up before a connection or the drive into London? Book the Plaza Premium Arrivals Lounge at T3, or choose the shower-only option if that covers what you actually need.

Booking Tips and Rules Worth Knowing

Book online rather than turning up on the day wherever you can. Prices run lower in advance, and most operators offer free cancellation up to 24 hours before your slot, so early booking costs you nothing if plans change later.

Most lounges open between roughly 4:45am and 5:30am and allow entry up to about four hours before your scheduled departure, though exact hours and entry windows vary by lounge, so confirm the specific details when you book.

Showers run complimentary in every British Airways lounge, including Galleries Club, First, and the Concorde Room. In independent lounges such as No1, Plaza Premium, and Club Aspire, showers sometimes carry a small extra fee or need pre-booking, and availability works first come, first served rather than guaranteed.

If you travel with children, check the lounge’s family policy before booking. Some lounges suit business travellers and stay quieter as a result, which does not always work well with young children in tow, while others set up dedicated family space.

If a lounge shows as full when you try to book, try a different lounge at the same terminal rather than assuming none are available. Heathrow’s terminals generally offer at least two independent options each.

Getting to Heathrow for Your Lounge Time

None of this lounge planning matters much if the journey to the airport eats into the time you set aside. A delayed drive, a parking search, or a stressful drop-off can easily swallow the hour you planned to spend relaxing before your flight.

A pre-booked chauffeur removes that risk. Your driver collects you at the agreed time. They handle the drop-off charge and find the correct terminal entrance. You reach the terminal with time to enjoy the lounge, not rush straight to security. This matters even more for longer journeys from the Midlands. Traffic on the M40 or M25 can turn a comfortable morning into a stressful one without much warning.

Our Heathrow Airport chauffeur service covers all five terminals. Our drivers know exactly where each terminal entrance sits, and they time the drop-off around your flight. Want the fuller picture? Our guide on how to get to and from Heathrow Airport covers every transport option in full.

Travel to Heathrow with National Executive Transfers

A good lounge experience starts before you reach the terminal. A stressful, rushed, or unpredictable drive turns that calm hour you planned into a deficit rather than a genuine reset.

At National Executive Transfers, we have run executive airport transfers to Heathrow since 2009. Professional, fully licensed chauffeurs collect you from your door at a confirmed time, handle your luggage, and take you directly to the correct terminal entrance at a fixed price agreed before you travel. On the return journey, we track your flight from takeoff, and your driver waits in arrivals whether you land early or hours late.

For business travellers heading straight from Heathrow into the city, our London chauffeur service covers onward transfers from any terminal. And for the full picture on avoiding the airport’s charges altogether, our guide to Heathrow drop-off charges explains exactly what to expect and how a chauffeur sidesteps it.

Book your Heathrow Airport transfer and start your journey properly, long before you reach the lounge.
